ESMO works with the United Nations (UN) to accelerate a whole-of-government approach to reducing the burden of cancer worldwide
ESMO has ‘Special Consultative Status’ with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2020, and can participate in UN meetings and make official statements that are delivered to all Member States.
ESMO has supported the adoption of many UN resolutions and political declarations related to cancer, such as those related to Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs), Pandemic Prevention Preparedness and Response, the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
