The first four editions of the IMPAKT meeting have shown a growing interest among breast cancer specialists in building a bridge between research and clinical practice, to make sure that the latest discoveries from mechanistic understanding and new technologies can be brought to the clinic in the near future.
It is therefore with great enthusiasm and increased commitment that we announce the 5th IMPAKT Conference on translational research in breast cancer, to be held 2-4 May 2013 in Brussels, Belgium, organised by the Breast International Group (BIG) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), in collaboration with a multidisciplinary alliance of European breast cancer organisations.
The IMPAKT Conference is definitely unique: it brings together innovative thinkers and takes a more fundamental approach than other breast cancer conferences, to figure out how to best develop and better individualize new strategies against breast cancer. IMPAKT presents a timely perspective to current and future issues in breast cancer research and treatment. IMPAKT 2013 will bring a significant amount of data on heterogeneity of breast cancer and promise to be a thought-provoking and stimulating experience for participants, partners and stakeholders.
IMPAKT 2013 is the place to present new data, to meet top experts in the field and network with all of those interested in how to translate new discoveries into better diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer patients. Past participants value the scope and depth of the information on disease biology, implications on management, and research presented, and many attendees return for the newest updates.
Being able to quickly translate laboratory discoveries into clinical practice is what patients are looking forward to, but it is equally important that data collected in the clinic gets back to researchers to allow them to dig more deeply into the biological behaviour of the tumour. As breast cancer research and treatment are ever-evolving, this conference is sure to be a rewarding educational experience for attendees to share.
