The Young Oncologist (YO) Track Sessions are specially designed by young oncologists for young oncologists and initiated by the ESMO Young Oncologist Committee (YOC). These sessions are educational and cover topics which are highly relevant to YOs in their daily practice, for research activities and professional development.
Dear fellow Young Oncologists,
In this virtual new normal, there have been many changes in the way we learn and deliver science.
What hasn’t changed is the commitment of the YOC in delivering excellence to you during the ESMO Congress and our ambition to improve and innovate. There will be two different settings in which you will have the chance to interact with the YOC team – during the congress weekends and between the congress weekends.
During the first weekend, we will offer you the opportunity to have an extremely interactive session with our very own editors of the ESMO journals. The 40 min discussion will allow us to explore all the aspects of quality vs. quantity in the publication world – one critical setting of the YO training.
In the second weekend, well-known experts will give you a glimpse of the current and future challenges ahead of us.Between congress weekends, we will offer you the chance to experience and be involved in our mentorship sessions and our clinical case discussions. These sessions will integrate the journey of the ESMO Virtual Train (a project by the ESMO Climate Change Task Force), which will virtually travel around the globe. The experts and mentors invited will make sure your time will be well spent.
Our very own virtual mentorship programme, prepared and approved before the COVID-19 pandemic, will also be launched, providing a 1-1 mentorship environment and contact with renowned experts.
We have dedicated energy and creativity to build this new YO track for you, and I am sure you will feel and see it when participating in the sessions. On behalf of the YOC, I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable support of the ESMO staff, without whom this would not have been possible.
I am very proud of the work done by this ESMO Young Oncologists Committee, and we are looking forward to seeing you in our sessions and receiving your feedback. Until then, stay safe!
