Application deadline: Monday, 25 July 2022
ESMO is delighted to offer a limited number of travel grants to enable Patient Advocates to attend the ESMO 2022 Patient Advocacy Track in Paris, from 9-13 September 2022.
IMPORTANT: only Patient Advocates who are active ESMO members will be eligible to apply for a travel grant. Patient advocates can join ESMO for a very convenient annual fee and enjoy full member benefits which include access to all of our resources.
What does a patient travel grant cover?
Applications for the travel grants helps to cover travel, hotel, and registration expenses and are based primarily on financial need, advocacy experience and current advocacy activities and involvement. Each grant will reimburse travel and accommodation costs up to a maximum of 650 EUR.
How will the applications be evaluated?
Please be informed that Patient Advocacy Working Group will evaluate the individual applications and allocate the grants accordingly. Due to the number of applications, the process can take up to a few weeks. Once your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email to proceed in arranging your travel and accommodation.
Please be informed that in the travel grant selection process ESMO will strive for an equal geographic representation as well as balanced participation between large and small patient advocates groups across Europe, and beyond.
What will be the process?
Please note that patient travel grants are limited in number and the deadline for receipt of applications is Monday, 25 July 2022. Successful applicants will be notified in the first part of August. In case of a very high level of applications, participants will be inserted on a waiting list and their applications processed at a later stage, if feasible.
When I will be reimbursed?
Reimbursements will be processed after the ESMO congress, and upon receipt of the online reimbursement application form accompanied by readable original bills/invoices.
What are my responsibilities by accepting a travel grant?
By applying for and accepting a travel grant, recipients agree to attend the entire Patient Advocacy Track sessions in person and also to provide a brief testimonial after the event that can be posted on the ESMO website. This could include a written testimonial that will summarize their overall experience and/or a short onsite recorded testimonial.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we look forward to welcoming a large number of patient advocates!
