To meet the rising interest in the ESMO Congress, and increasing demand for accommodation in and around Copenhagen, ESMO has blocked a number of hotels for congress delegates across the Oresund Bridge in Malmo, Sweden.
The bridge has practically made Malmo a suburb of Copenhagen and the two cities are well-connected. Transportation by car, train or coach (bus) can be booked in advance and ESMO has appointed Ovation Nordics as the official coordinator of transportation by car, minivan or bus.
However you decide to travel, please make sure to have your ID card / passport with you while travelling between Sweden and Denmark due to a temporary reintroduction of border control.
Danish/Swedish border control
Status at July 2016: A temporary border control is in place at the Danish-Swedish border. As a result, all people travelling by train to Sweden must show their ID before getting on the train at Copenhagen Airport and again in the train at the first station in Sweden: Hyllie.
If travelling to Sweden by car or taxi via the Oresund Bridge, ID control is at the Swedish toll station. Please note there is no ID control going from Sweden to Denmark.
We therefore advise delegates staying in Malmo (and crossing the border daily) to carry their passports with them.
