Learning objectives
- To understand the mental health and well-being challenges faced by oncology professionals across Europe and the world, including burnout.
- To identify and analyse the contributing factors and risks leading to mental ill-health and burnout among healthcare workers.
- To acquire essential resilience skills for enhancing personal well-being and coping with challenges in the healthcare field.
- To explore various initiatives and interventions implemented across Europe, and develop an action plan to address mental health, well-being and resilience within one's own institution’s/country's oncology workforce.
- To establish connections with other oncology leaders across Europe to create a supportive peer network for promoting transformation and well-being internationally within the oncology profession.
How to apply
Application is via online form. During the application process you will be required to upload the following:
- Your CV
- 3-5 slides presenting a health and well-being initiative you have been involved or contributed to in your institute or country and/or proposed ideas (please use the ESMO Presentation Power Point template, provided here)

Who can apply?
While this course is primarily aimed at oncologists working in Europe, application is open to all ESMO members.
To apply, ESMO membership is mandatory. If you are not an ESMO member or need to renew your membership, please visit the ESMO membership pages.
Health and Safety Policy
It is each participant’s responsibility to check and comply with the latest health and travel regulations to ensure a smooth and safe journey from the Country of origin to the event venue, and back.
During the event, ESMO will apply health and safety protocols according to the latest local authority guidelines and regulations.
In general, ESMO recommends
- To apply health precautions and measures according to formal guidance and personal medical history
- To stay up to date with the vaccination status
- To perform a Rapid Antigen Test and wear a mask in case of symptoms
Hand sanitisers will be available throughout the venue; the use of mask is at own discretion in the absence of symptoms.
Any changes to the ESMO health and safety protocols will be communicated on this webpage.

ESMO bears no responsibility for any untoward events in connection with, before, during and after the course. Participants are strongly advised to take out their own personal and travel coverage.
What's included?
Successful applicants will benefit from complimentary registration and accommodation.
Travel grant
In addition to registration and hotel accommodation, a travel grant of maximum 600 euros is offered to selected applicants as a contribution towards travel costs. The reimbursement will be processed after the event against original invoices/vouchers. Please be aware that visa costs are NOT covered by the travel grant and are the participant's responsibility.
