Learning objectives
- Understand mechanisms, risk, prevention and treatment of the key symptoms and syndromes: pain, anorexia, cachexia, dyspnea, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, mucositis, neurotoxicity, cardiovascular events, venous thromboembolism, haematological complications and their association with cancer disease and antineoplastic treatment
- Understand integration of screening for and assessment of toxicities to antineoplastic treatment, symptoms and other supportive and palliative care needs, and integration of their management in routine oncology care
- Understand the role of rehabilitation in the continuum of care process
- Understand key steps to prepare patients and family members for end-of-life and care of the dying person
- Understand how to communicate with patients about illness, prognosis, coping, hope and decisions. Reflect on your own role and how to address cultural differences
- Get familiar with the ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines on supportive and palliative care topics
Accreditation
The programme of this event has been accredited with 12 ESMO-MORA category 1 points. Recertification is necessary for medical oncologists to remain professionally certified by ESMO. Recertification guarantees that a certified medical oncologist has continued to update her/his knowledge and continues to possess the necessary skills and standards for the practice of medical oncology. Travel grant
In addition to the course registration and the hotel accommodation, a travel grant of maximum 400 euros is offered to non-local participants as a contribution versus their travel costs (excluding Visa costs).
Participants must supply proof of travel as appropriate (tickets and receipts/invoices).
