Sunway Medical Centre, established in November 1999, is located within Sunway City, an innovative development providing health, wellbeing, leisure and education facilities. The centre holds international accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI) - USA, the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH).

Sunway Cancer Centre features an integrated team of physicians from more than 60 medical specialties, including oncologists, radiation therapists, medical physicists, radiologists, oncology surgeons, haematologists, oncology nurses, and specialist teams for palliative care, rehabilitation and mental health. Sunway Cancer Centre provides expert multidisciplinary care within our Heart, Lung and Vascular Centre, Bone and Joint Centre, Robotic Surgery and MIS Centre, Digestive Health Centre, Children’s Health and Development Centre, Women’s Health Centre including the Fertility Centre, and Neuroscience Centre. The hospital is at the forefront of adopting the latest technology to ensure clinical excellence, being the first hospital in Malaysia to install the Elekta Leksell Gamma Knife® ICON™, Varian TrueBeam™ STx, and Accuray Radixact X9 TomoTherapy.
The centre’s comprehensive nuclear medicine services include the 4D PET/CT, Digital PET/CT, SPECT/CT, PRRT, RAI-131, PSMA and SIRT. The hospital is also equipped with the latest model of the da Vinci® Robotics Surgical System for minimally invasive surgeries. The multidisciplinary team has regular tumour board meetings where the best cancer treatment options are discussed, focusing on comprehensive patient-centred care.
Palliative and Supportive Care
Sunway Medical Centre is committed to the provision of holistic, patient-centred care throughout the cancer journey. The Supportive and Palliative Care Team consists of consultant palliative medicine physicians, specially-trained senior doctors and palliative care nurses providing comprehensive palliative care services within inpatient and outpatient settings. The team works closely with the primary oncology services as well as other relevant specialities, focusing on optimal symptom management and psycho-social-spiritual support for the patients and their family members. The team is actively involved in hospital-wide palliative care education and scientific research. Services offered by the team includes pain and complex symptom management, advance care planning, discharge planning and counselling, including engagement with home nursing providers and the rental of medical equipment. In addition to caregiver education and training, we provide referrals to community hospice organisations for home palliative care, end-of-life care for terminally ill and dying patients with an emphasis on dignity and comfort, psycho-social and bereavement support for patients and their family/caregivers, and comprehensive patient care using a multidisciplinary approach with various allied health teams, including physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, counsellors and clinical psychologists.
