History
Hacettepe Oncology Hospital is one of the three integrated hospitals of Hacettepe University in Ankara. The Oncology Hospital was founded in 1993 and has reached its current capacity in 2005. Hacettepe University Hospitals are the first public university hospitals accredited by Joint Committee International (JCI) in Türkiye. Hacettepe Oncology Hospital has been accredited by JCI since 2011.

Hacettepe Oncology Hospital is a 160-bed cancer center that includes Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology (including cyber-knife and brachytherapy units), Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Oncology, Basic Oncology, Preventive Oncology, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine departments and related specialised laboratories. The number of newly diagnosed cancer cases is about 5,000 per year and the hospital provides about 80,000 outpatient visits and 4000 inpatient admissions per year.

Palliative and Supportive Care
Palliative medicine team consists of oncologists, expert and trained nurses in the field of palliative care including a pain management nurse, nutrition nurse, and psychosocial oncology unit nurses, a psychologist, physiotherapists, dieticians, the social worker and the chaplain. Outpatient assessment is performed in the medical oncology clinic and patients who are admitted for symptom management or end-of-life care are hospitalised on the oncology wards. Psychosocial oncology unit, social worker and the chaplain also serve for family needs. There is cooperation with home care services established by the government.
