History
The Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is a specialised cancer institute established in 1995 by the Department of Health of the Government of Catalonia, which serves more than 50% of the adult population of Catalonia.
We provide a comprehensive approach to the disease and encompass prevention, care, research, and specialised training within the same organisation.
Profile
We have a unique territorial healthcare network model throughout the country, which constitutes a key tool in ensuring equity in the treatment of oncological and oncohematological pathologies in Catalonia.
We have 4 centers placed in 4 university hospitals and 21 regional hospitals in our reference areas, with the aim of promoting equal access to citizens near their homes whenever possible. For this reason, our cancer specialists travel to these centers to provide care and ensure knowledge transfer.
