General Description
Ospedale del Mare is a general hospital of more than 450 beds, including several specialties. The hospital also deals with staff training and education, didactic activities formalized through partnerships and agreements with universities.
Expertise
The medical Oncology Unit at the Ospedale del Mare has a long-lasting experience in several kind of tumours, with a high-level expertise in studying and treating lung cancer, breast cancer, brain tumours, head and neck, melanoma and skin cancers, upper and lower GI cancers, GU cancers.
The team has a leading role in Italian and international oncology networks with involvement in several phase II and III trials, real word evidences and retrospective analyses, especially in the field of GI cancers (upper and lower).
There are multiple multidisciplinary teams working on all kinds of tumours, except gynecological ones and sarcomas.
Facilities
The Medical oncology Unit has 14 medical oncologist and 5 case managers, who are dedicated to clinical activity and clinical research. It also has clinical research coordinators and research nurses dedicated to both sponsored and no-profit clinical trials management.
There are 3 outpatient visit rooms and 2 medical oncologists is always dedicated to inpatient activity.
