Training Experience Required
- Applicants must have completed or are in an advanced phase of their training in medical oncology, and have an interest in geriatric oncology.
- An excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Knowledge of written or spoken Italian is not required - clinicians and the research team speak English, research and educational meetings are conducted in English.
- Prior experience in clinical and/or translational cancer research, preferably in Geriatric Oncology, is an advantage.

Inaugurated in 2013, the New Hospital of Prato is a modern bulding with state of the art facilities for optimal patient care.
Expertise
The Department of Oncology provides multidisciplinary cancer care including screening, cancer treatment, palliative and supportive care, and cancer research, with a major focus on geriatric oncology and breast cancer.
In addition, there is a very active Translational Research Unit attached to the Department of Oncology.
Facilities
The Department of Oncology is articulated in several units:
- Patient care: this includes vast outpatient facilities and services, including a geriatric oncology clinic, and dedicated day hospital and ward;
- Clinical research unit: this includes a dedicated team of study coordinators for clinical trials (both sponsored and academic);
- Translational research unit: a dedicated state of art facilities for pre-clinical and biomarkers research;
- Bioinformatic unit: this includes a team of experienced bioinformaticians and a biostatistician.
- A consolidated collaboration with the Centre for Magnetic Resonance (CERM) of the University of Florence creates a unique opportunity to conduct metabolomics studies.
