Training Experience Required
The fellow needs to be board certified for medical oncology. Since the fellowship opportunities will include partial or complete interaction with patients, the ability to communicate in Spanish and /or Catalan is required.
General Description
The Department of Medical Oncology at ICO- Badalona (at Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol) provides patient care on vanguard scientific and basic research. The professionals of this department are devoted to cancer research and treatment, and cover all the disciplines including but not limited to lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, CNS neoplasms, GU tumors… The interaction between the clinic and laboratory represent a good opportunity for new clinical and research projects.
Expertise
At the Department of Medical Oncology of ICO-Badalona both basic and clinical researchers work together to offer new therapeutic opportunities to cancer patients. The availability of a significant number of clinical trials, including early clinical studies with novel combinations of targeted therapies and biomarker-based studies, represents the main interest of the different units that conforms the department.
Facilities
ICO Badalona is located in the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias I Pujol. The different tumor-specific units at the department of Medical Oncology develop their basic research at the Badalona Applied Research Group (B-ARGO), as well as their clinical research and trials programs at the Medical Oncology department. They work in close collaboration with the Pathology Department, and other basic research groups located in the same University Campus for the specific translational Research Fellowship.
