The ESMO Research Fellowship was first introduced in 1989 and is awarded as a one-year project with the option of a second-year prolongation upon request and subsequent approval by the Fellowship Committee.
Depending on the focus of the submitted fellowship project young oncologists are offered the following research experience:
- Focus Translational - Comprehensive bench-to-bedside training providing the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in translational cancer research.
- Focus Clinical - Training in clinical research in renowned European cancer centres and supports efforts to expand professional networks through collaboration with institutions of excellence
