Integrated Cancer Care
Cancer patients and their needs are at the centre of all that ESMO does.
As set out by the ESMO Vision 2020, ESMO has been promoting an integrated approach to cancer care, bridging cancer prevention, research, early-diagnosis, and treatment to improve patient outcomes.
Over the years ESMO has nurtured a community of oncology professionals, erasing boundaries both in cancer care and across countries. ESMO members currently represent over 25,000 oncology professionals from more than 40 specialties, who practice in more than 160 countries.
ESMO has opened the doors to all oncology specialties and has encouraged diversity among its members. Diversity of cultures, educational backgrounds, experiences and expertise which represents the force of the Society in the fight against cancer.
Guided by the principle of integrated cancer care ESMO has brought the oncology community together to improve patient outcomes.
Looking ahead: providing equal opportunities to our global membership
ESMO activities, committees, faculties, officers and policy commitments will all have to evolve in step with our changing membership landscape. To cover the large spectrum of demands that come along with this, we must reassess our reach and efficacy in all areas of the world, and ensure we offer a capillary network of services that cover our members’ different needs. Because by supporting oncologists to become better doctors, we are in fact helping our patients.
