Veronika Ballova

Dr Veronika Ballova is a senior medical oncologist at the Onkologie Kantonsspital in Baden, Switzerland.
She graduated in medicine from the Comenius University of Bratislava, Slovakia, in 1992, and completed her specialist training in clinical oncology in 2001 at the National Cancer Institute in Bratislava.
Previously, Dr Ballova worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Microbiology of the University of Bratislava, and as a Resident at the National Cancer Institute of Bratislava, Slovakia.
In 2003 she also completed an ESMO fellowship at the University Hospital in Cologne, Germany, with the German Hodgkin Study Group.
Since then her career has been mainly focused on haematological malignancies, working for example during 10 years as a medical oncologist in the Department of Lymphoproliferative Diseases & Hematologic Malignancies, BM Transplantation Unit of the National Cancer Institute of Bratislava, Slovakia.
Dr Ballova specialised in the treatment of haematological malignancies, including Hodgkin lymphomas, Non-Hodgkin lymphomas, leukaemias and myelomas. She is also interested in high dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation.
She serves as Chair of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Educational Publications Working Group, as a member of Slovak Medical Society (SLS), Slovak Society for Medical Oncology (SOS), Slovak Society for Haematology (SHS), and International Extranodal Lymphoma Study Group (IELSG). She also served from 2012 to 2015 as chair of the Slovak Lymphoma Group (LySk).
Veronika Ballova is an author of several papers published in peer-reviewed international journals and has been an invited speaker at several national meetings. She has also collaborated on international publications (books), as an author and editor.
