Tom John is a medical oncologist specialising in thoracic oncology and familial cancers and is also one of the deputy directors of medical oncology at Peter Mac.
Prof John completed a PhD in genomics at the University of Melbourne and then undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Canada working on lung and mesothelioma xenograft models.
Prof John has conducted practice changing, high impact clinical trials that have lead to global approvals, access to novel therapies and also published in journals such as the NEJM, Nature Medicine and The Lancet. He leads translational studies through the Translational Research Laboratory and supervises several PhD students. He also continues to lead several trials with a focus on EGFR mutant lung cancer and mesothelioma.
