Tanja Gagliardi MD is a Consultant Radiologist at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London specialising in breast and gynae oncology cancers.

Trained and graduated in Germany, she became Consultant Radiologist at the University Hospital in Bern, Switzerland in 2001. Responsible for Women’s Imaging, she set up a MRI-guided Breast Biopsy service .
In 2008 she took up a post at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Scotland, where she became QA-lead for the Breast Screening Centre and was a core member of the Multidisciplinary Breast Team.
She introduced Large Volume Excision Biopsies at the Symptomatic Breast Service and actively supported research evaluating the role of Tomosynthesis in the Breast Screening setting. She was appointed Honorary Senior Lecture at the University in Aberdeen, actively supporting MSc and PHD students and supporting studies evaluating the value of multiparametric MRI methods in the neoadjuvant Imaging setting and baseline research of Fast Field Cycle-MRI in breast cancer patients.
As a core member of the gynae oncology team, she set up a trial to investigate the value of Whole Body Diffusion weighted MRI in ovarian cancer patients.

Since 2019 she practices in London at the Royal Marsden Hospital. One of her main areas of interest are young women with Breast Cancer. She lectures regularly for the European School of Oncology and supports ESMO in its Preceptorship program of breast cancer.
