Sarah Hoeck

Sarah Hoeck is a medical sociologist with a PhD in the medical sciences. She works as programme manager of the Flemish colorectal cancer screening programme at the Centre for Cancer Detection (CCD, Bruges, Belgium). The CCD is a non-profit expertise centre, subsidized by the Flemish Ministry of Welfare, Public Health and Family to coordinate the cancer screening programs in Flanders (Belgium).
She is affiliated as a post-doc researcher at the Department of Family Medicine and Population Health, Research Group Social Epidemiology and Health Policy within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Antwerp (Belgium). This Research Group has extensive experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodology.
Research topics in which she has been involved in recent years include frailty, alcohol consumption, healthcare utilization among the elderly, social inequalities in healthcare (cancer screening) utilization, colorectal cancer screening.
Methodologies used are quantitative questionnaires, in depth interviewing and focus group discussions. She is author and co-author of several peer-reviewed articles (34, Web of Science on 01/02/2022).
