Salvador Martin Algarra MD, PhD, is a Consultant of Medical Oncology at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra (CUN) and a Professor of Oncology at the Medical School of the University of Navarra, in Pamplona (Spain).

After finishing his PhD and his specialization in Medical Oncology, Dr. Martín Algarra did a clinical fellowship in Oncology/Hematology, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha (US).

He has been member of the Directive Board of the CUN, as well as President of its Educational Board of the CUN, Director of the Department of Oncology and co-director of the Cell Therapy Area of the University of Navarra.

Currently, Dr. Martin Algarra main areas of interest are in the therapeutic development of immunotherapy and targeted therapies, mainly in melanoma, sarcoma, and rare tumors and is one of the founders and current President of the Spanish Melanoma Group (Grupo Español Multidisciplinar de Melanoma, GEM).

Dr. Martin Algarra is also involved in other areas of clinical oncology as well as in translational research on immunology and biomarkers on solid tumors. His research work in those fields have been published in national and international oncology journals.

His teaching and scholar activities are focused on undergraduate and graduate education in Medical Oncology, as well as in mentoring. A special academic relevance in this sense has the International Congress of Oncology for Students (Coe), educational activity organized annually by undergraduates under his guidance, as Professor-in-charge, that recently finished its 12th annual edition with great success.
