Dr. Regina Barragan-Carrillo is a dedicated Mexican medical oncologist with a strong focus on addressing disparities in cancer care, particularly within genitourinary cancers and microbiome modulation research. She attended medical school in Guadalajara, graduating with honors. Her early research efforts concentrated on breast cancer in young women, establishing her path in cancer clinical research. She later completed her Internal Medicine and Oncology Fellowship at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubiran in Mexico City, where her interest in genitourinary oncology deepened. Currently, Dr. Barragan-Carrillo serves as a postdoctoral research fellow at City of Hope in the Urologic Oncology clinic. She will join the Mexican National Cancer Institute as faculty in the Genitourinary Clinic in March 2024.
