Associate Professor Rachel Wong is a medical oncologist, sub-specialising in gastrointestinal and lung malignancies and melanoma. After completing her oncology training in Victoria, Australia, A/Prof Wong completed a research fellowship in gastrointestinal cancers and lymphoma at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust where she gained extensive experience in the management and development of clinical trials.
She is currently Deputy Director of Oncology at Eastern Health (served as Acting Director of Oncology in 2019), an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Monash University and a Clinical Research Fellow at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (Personalised Oncology). She is a visiting medical officer at Epworth HealthCare.
Rachel has previously served as a committee member and chaired both the Victorian Medical Oncology Training Programme and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Advanced Training Committee in Medical Oncology. She was a member of the Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group ASM medical oncology sub-committee from 2018-2020 and chaired the medical oncology ASM sub-committee in 2020. She co-chaired the eviQ Medical Oncology Reference Committee from 2017-2021 and remains a reference committee member. She is a member of the ESMO Leadership Development Committee.
In 2017, she completed the Leadership Victoria Women’s Leadership Course and in 2019, was a participant in the inaugural ESMO Leaders Generation Programme Asia. In 2022, she completed the Monash University Executive Graduate Certificate of Business and the University of Melbourne Graduate Diploma in Health and Medical Law. She is currently completing her Master in Health and Medical Law.
