Pedro C. Barata, MD, MSc FACP, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologist at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He serves as the Director of clinical research of GU Medical Oncology Research Programme and the Co-Leader of the Genitourinary (GU) Disease Team. Dr Barata focuses on the treatment of genitourinary (GU) tumours and the design and conduct of clinical trials. Dr Barata’s research programme focuses primarily on the design of proof-of-concept clinical trials, as well as translational projects, exploring clinical biomarkers and genomic-based therapies. This hands-on experience is substantiated by the peer-reviewed publications that underscore his contributions and advancements in this critical area of oncology.
