Naiyarat Prasongsook, M.D., M.S., is an Associate Professor in Medical Oncology, a principle investigator for multiple clinical oncology trials, and Director of an Excellence PMK Comprehensive Cancer Center at Phramongkutklao Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Prasongsook received his medical degree from Phramongkutklao College of Medicine Hospital in Bangkok. After completing a clinical medical oncology fellowship at Ramathibodi Hospital in Thailand, he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a master degree of the Clinical Translational Science Program from the Mayo Graduate School.
In 2009, Dr. Prasongsook received the International Development and Educational Award from the ASCO Conquer Cancer, and Extended Tour Award as a guest of mentor (Prof. Gary H. Lyman) at Duke Cancer Center, Durham, NC. In 2019, he participated in the ESMO Leaders Generation Programme Asia and is a member of the ESMO Climate Change Task Force. He is also serving as ASCO Asia Pacific Regional Council member for 2024-2026 term.
His research interests include all areas of care related to endocrine malignancies, focusing on anaplastic thyroid cancer, lung cancer, and breast cancer. He is experienced in pre-clinical, translational, and clinical application of nutraceutical approach for cancer treatment and supportive treatment. Dr. Prasongsook has also a specific interest in ethics in human research, and completed course of the Strategic Initiative for Developing Capacity in Ethical Review – Forum for Ethical Review Committees in Asia and the Western Pacific (SIDCER-FERCAP) Global Fellowship (SFGF) program.
Dr. Prasongsook has published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to present at national and international meetings.
