Marina Baretti, MD, is an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, with an interest in translational research and a growing expertise in the care of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer patients. Dr Baretti received her medical degree from University of Pisa, in Italy. She completed her internal medicine residency and oncology fellowship at University of Milan. She then completed her Postdoctoral and Medical Oncology Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.

Her academic research is centered on the development of novel agents in gastrointestinal cancers, with particular interest in combinatorial approaches of epigenetic therapies and immunotherapies. She is currently the principal investigator in trials in these disease groups at the Johns Hopkins University, collaborating closely with laboratory-based researchers to move laboratory findings into patients, bringing novel compounds to the clinic and answering important scientific questions.
