Luisa Mantovani Löffler received her MD from the University of “La Sapienza” of Rome, Italy in 1983. She was trained in hematology, internal medicine, and medical oncology at the University of Rome, Freiburg/Breisgau, Cologne and Leipzig. Her current projects include digital health programs and interactive digital tools for communities of oncologists (e.g., outpatients monitoring). She is also supporting the development of the geriatric oncology at her institution. She is a clinician specialized in Lymphoma, Leukemia, Gastro-Intestinal Cancer.
Dr Mantovani Löffler also applied for training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and several qualification courses in the field of psycho-oncology and completed internships at the MD Anderson Cancer center and at Drum Tower Hospital of Nanjing China. Her approach is to offer patients and their caregivers an interdisciplinary and integrative treatment.
In 2000 Dr Mantovani Löffler established the Unit of Medical Oncology and Hematology at St. Georg Hospital of Leipzig and in 2001 she founded the first Cancer Center of the Saxony Region at the same institution and served as the Director until 2019. She contributed to the foundation of a Sino-German Cancer Center, a cooperation project between Leipzig and Nanjing. In 2006 she founded “Haus Leben Leipzig’s center for integrative and preventive oncology and is the chairwoman of the association with the same name, supporting coping programs for patients, their relatives, and their caregivers as well as community-based cancer prevention programs, especially for colon cancer and breast cancer. She was the initiator of the breast cancer awareness campaign www.pink-shoe-day. She was also head of the ‘Nutrition and Cancer’ program www.kerngesund-foodrevolution.
Dr Mantovani Löffler is member of ESMO, ASCO, DGHO, and AIO and is a member of the ESMO Global Policy Committee. She has authored or coauthored over 20 peer-reviewed publications. She was awarded of Italian Honour (Order of Merit of the Italian Republic – awarded on 30 May 2005) and German Honour (Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany – awarded on 23 November 2016). She is member of the Rotary Club Leipzig International and Inner Wheel Leipzig.
