Dr. Justin Gainor is a medical oncologist specialising in thoracic malignancies and early-phase clinical trials at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He is currently Director of the Center for Thoracic Cancers and Director of Targeted Immunotherapy in the Henri and Belinda Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies at the Massachusetts General Hospital. His research focuses on the clinical development of novel targeted therapies and immunotherapies. In parallel, his translational research efforts centre around developing predictive biomarkers and elucidating mechanisms of resistance to therapy.
Dr. Gainor completed his undergraduate training at Johns Hopkins University and received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He subsequently completed his training in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and training in medical oncology in the combined Mass General Brigham/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute fellowship programme. In addition to his appointment at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Gainor is currently an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Gainor has led a number of phase I-III clinical trials and is involved in multi-institutional collaborative efforts focused on biomarker discovery. He is a member of the ESMO Translational Research and Precision Medicine Working Group.
