Helen J. Gogas

Prof. H. J. Gogas, MD, PhD, was born in London (United Kingdom). She studied Medicine in Greece and earned her Medical Degree from Athens University Medical School in 1988.
She specialised in Internal Medicine at the 2nd Propaedeutic Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Oncology at Evagelismos Hospital, Athens, (Greece) and board certified in Internal Medicine in September 1994. She then conducted postgraduate studies in Medical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Department of Developmental Chemotherapy (United States), and at St. George’s Hospital Medical School, Department of Oncology, London (United Kingdom) through a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation.
Prof. Gogas board certified in Medical Oncology in 2000.
Since 1997 Prof. Gogas has been Director of the Outpatient Oncology Department of the 1st Department of Medicine, Medical School, University of Athens, (Greece), where from 2001 to 2005 she was also Lecturer in Medical Oncology and from 2005 to January 2011 Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology. She was appointed Associate Professor of Medical Oncology on the 25th January 2011.
Prof. Gogas is a member of several medical oncology associations, including ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology) and ASCO (the American Society of Clinical Oncology); she has lectured extensively as an invited speaker at national and international congresses and is widely published in national and international journals.
