Specialist in oncology and in haematology, senologist, obtained a PhD in biochemical pharmacology in the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
As a medical oncologist he has a general interest in the treatment of solid tumours, in the development of new anticancer agents (particularly antimetabolites and drugs acting on the epigenetic control of gene expression) and in caring for patients in the different phases of disease (from cancer prevention and screening to palliative care) while trying to avoid overdiagnosis and overtreatment.
In collaboration with the “Fertility and Procreation Unit” of IEO in Milan, directed by F. A. Peccatori, he is working on the toxic side effects of chemotherapy on the ovary and on the preservation of fertility in cancer patients.
He is Assistant Professor in Medical Oncology in the University of Rome “la Sapienza”.
