Gilberto Morgan

Gilberto Morgan, MD is a medical oncologist at the division of Medical and Radiation Oncology at Skåne University Hospital in Lund, Sweden. He is a clinician and researcher with a background in molecular biology. A product of the University of Texas educational system, Dr. Morgan was a fellow at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland in developmental and molecular biology, and after his medical education he developed a strong interest in the field of cancer prevention and received training at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland and at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Morgan is in the editorial team of ESMO Open Cancer Horizons, Critical reviews in Oncology & Haematology, and the Journal of Immunotherapy and Precision Oncology, and serves as member of the eESO advisory board for the European School of Oncology.
He is the creator and director of the OncoAlert network, which aims to promote oncology education through social media and is an ongoing collaborator with ESMO.
Dr. Morgan is the current Chair of the ESMO Social Media Working Group and has previously served on the ESMO Membership Committee for four years. As of the beginning of 2021 Dr. Morgan is a member of the ESMO European Policy Committee and the ESMO Global Policy Committee, which address political topics of concern to ESMO and its members at the European and global levels. He is passionate about promoting good practice and eliminating discrepancies in the quality of cancer care. He was also a member of the ESMO Faculty Group for Cancer Prevention in 2019 and in the same year was chosen by ESMO as a participant of the 2019 ESMO Leaders Generation Programme.
