Bruna Bianca Lopes David

Brazilian National Cancer Institute And Oncoclinicas Group

Brazil

Dr. Bruna David completed her training in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute (INCA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She obtained her specialisation in Sarcoma and Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST) at the Instituto Nazionale dei Tumori (INT) in Milan, Italy, through a program sponsored by the European School of Oncology (ESO).

At INT, she also worked for two years as the project manager for the Sarcoma European Latin American Network (SELNET) consortium. SELNET is a Horizon 2020-funded project aimed at creating a multidisciplinary network of clinical and translational specialists across Europe and Latin America to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of sarcomas.

After returning to Brazil, Dr. David assumed the role of coordinator for the National Sarcoma Group at Oncoclinica and is currently a Sarcoma clinical researcher at INCA. During her time in Europe, she collaborated with major initiatives focused on rare cancers, which led to her involvement in various sarcoma and public policy committees. She is currently the ESO Brazilian Ambassador, a member of the Steering Committee of the European Cancer Organisation, an external advisor to EURACAN, a member of the SELNET Executive Committee, and, more recently, a participant in the ASCO LATAM Leadership Program.

In Brazil, Dr. David is a founding member of the Brazilian Sarcoma Group, a member of the Latin American Cooperative Oncology Group (LACOG), and contributes to the Sarcoma branches of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology.

Her collaboration with global oncology experts has resulted in significant scientific publications on rare cancers in Latin America, such as the first dataset of Sarcoma clinical pathways in Brazil. To helping bring these diseases to the forefront of clinical discussions is the main goal. This work has also supported health professionals and patient advocacy groups, advancing the reality of sarcoma care in Latin America.
