Birute Brasiuniene

Dr B. Brasiuniene is a graduate of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in Kaunas and is a medical oncology resident at the same university. She also has post university internships at Rostock University (Germany), University of Heidelberg (Germany), University Hospital Beaujon (France) and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (US).
Her PhD thesis “Effect of combined treatment methods on survival and quality of life in patients with pancreatic cancer” was presented in 2006 at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.
She has been practicing medical oncology for more than 20 years, mostly working in the University hospitals of Lithuania, and in France (five years). In 2016 she became Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of Lithuania. Her main areas of interest are innovative treatment of gynaecological cancers, breast cancer, melanoma.
Dr Brasiunieneis an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University and co-author of scientific publications. She is also a chair of the scientific committee of the Lithuanian Journal “Onkologija” for oncologists, a medical consultant of the Lithuanian journal “Rožinis gyvenimas” (“Pink life”) for breast cancer and an active participant in different social and educational initiatives supporting cancer patients.
Dr Brasiuniene is a member of ESMO, a board member of the Society of Lithuanian oncologists, a member of the Lithuanian Society for Medical Oncology, a member of the Scientific Committee of NSGO-CTU (Nordic Society of Gynaecological Oncology Clinical Trial Unit) and a member of the gynaecological cancer and melanoma groups of EORTC.
