Axel Hauschild

Axel Hauschild is Head of the Skin Cancer Trial Center at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel, Germany. His main clinical interests are the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. He is the past president of the German Dermatologic Cooperative Oncology Group (DeCOG) and board member of the European Association of Dermato Oncology (EADO). Since April 2021 Professor Hauschild is the president of the Melanoma World Society (MWS). Professor Hauschild was the congress president of the 8th and 10th World Congress of Melanoma 2013 and 2021, respectively. He is the designated president of the 11th World Congress of Melanoma in April 2025 in Athens/Greece. He has been invited as a speaker to more than 700 conferences across the world.
Professor Hauschild has been the principal investigator of more than 100 Phase 1–3 clinical trials on melanoma, cutaneous lymphomas and epithelial skin cancers. His scientific career was honoured with the German Skin Cancer Award and the German Cancer Award. He has published over 420 articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, The Lancet Oncology and Journal of Clinical Oncology.
