Ana Jovićević

Ana Jovićević, MD, PhD, specialist in epidemiology, is head of the Epidemiology department at the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia (IORS). She obtained her medical degree, master’s degree and PhD in oncology at the University of Belgrade, Serbia and completed fellowships at the National Cancer Institute, USA, and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, France.
Her main fields of interest are cancer epidemiology, cancer prevention, infection control in cancer patients and patient support.
As a member of national expert committees of the Ministry of Health of Serbia, Dr Jovićević participated in the development of national screening programmes for breast and cervical cancer, national strategies for cancer control and tobacco control, and guidelines for cancer prevention. She coordinated for Serbia the WHO project Field testing of cancer self-assesment tool, and participated in several international tobacco control projects.
At IORS, she is a president of the Working Group for Patient Support, that facilitates collaboration between IORS and cancer patients’ associations.
Dr Jovićević is also an active member and currently the deputy president of the Serbian Society for the Fight Against Cancer, established in 1927, with the aim of cancer research, public education and support to cancer patients and professionals. She is also one of the founders and board member of the “Health Mission”, association dedicated to public health promotion.
Dr Jovićević is member of the ESMO Faculty Group for cancer prevention.
