Ana Joaquim,  is a medical oncologist working at the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) as clinical research physician since May 2022, where she works in trial design, conducted and reporting mostly in breast cancer, head and neck cancer, and thyroid cancer.

Previously, since 2013, she had worked in the Portuguese hospital Centro Hospitalar Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho (CHVNG/E), where she specialised in head and neck cancer, breast cancer and supportive care.

Dr Joaquim holds a PhD in Biomedicine, focusing on the effects of a supervised physical exercise programme in quality of life, physical function and circulating biomarkers of breast cancer survivors.

Since 2020, she has been the president of the Portuguese Group of Head and Neck cancer (GECCP), one of the coordinators of the ONCOMOVE® programme of the Portuguese Society of Supportive Care (AICSO) since its creation in 2018, and member of ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology), EHNS (European Head and Neck Society) and MASCC (Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer).
