Aleksei Tikhonov, Ph.D., earned his M.Sc. degree from the Higher Chemical College of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2015. Following this, he finished a Ph.D. program in molecular biology and oncology at the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology (EIMB RAS) in Moscow, concluding with a Ph.D. thesis on identifying circulating biomarkers in colorectal cancer.
Dr. Tikhonov is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in the Translational Research Laboratory in Immunotherapy (LRTI) at Gustave Roussy in Villejuif, France. Previously he worked as a research assistant in the laboratory of biological microchips, EIMB RAS in Moscow, Russia, focusing on liquid-biopsy-based biomarkers discovery and development of detection test systems. He had a strong collaboration with several medical centers in Russia for joint grants focusing on applying developed antibody- and protein-based microarrays in cancer diagnosis.
Dr. Tikhonov has published more than 15 articles in international journals and 2 successful patents, and his scientific results have been reported at more than 30 international and domestic conferences. He is also an active member of several international communities, including the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Global Policy Committee, the Communication Committee of the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM), and he is an Early Career Scientist Committee member of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC).
Dr. Tikhonov is a winner of a Russian Government young scientists’ scholarship and has received grants from ESMO, AACR, and EMBL. His research interests are cancer biomarkers, translational research, tumor immunology and immunotherapy, and clinical chemistry. He also advocates mentoring students and young researchers interested in pursuing their career development.
