Anna Dorothea Wagner, M.D, PD & MER, is a consultant, senior lecturer and head of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Clinic in the Department of Oncology at the University Hospital of Lausanne.

After training and board certification in internal medicine (2001) and medical oncology (2007) in Germany, she joined the University Hospital of Lausanne in 2008, where she obtained the title of Private Docent (PD-MER) in 2013. Her principal research activities include clinical trials in GI cancers, meta-analyses, and gender medicine. She has chaired the EORTC GI Group Gastric Cancer Task Force since 2014. She is coordinating investigator of the EORTC-1203 protocol on perioperative treatment of HER-2 positive gastric cancer (“INNOVATION-trial”), a collaboration between the EORTC, the Korean Cancer study group and the Dutch Upper GI Cancer group, which is currently ongoing. In addition, she acts as local PI of gastrointestinal cancer trials opened at the Lausanne Cancer Centre. In collaboration with ESMO, she organized the ESMO Workshop “Gender Medicine Meets Oncology” in 2018 and is the Chair of the ESMO Gender Medicine Task Force.

She has authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, several book chapters and serves as a reviewer for journals including the European Journal of Cancer, Annals of Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology and The Lancet. Her memberships include the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and the Schweizerische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Klinische Krebsforschung (SAKK) GI-group.
