History

HCA Healthcare began in 1968 with a small hospital in Nashville founded by doctors. Today HCA have more than 180 hospitals and 2,000+ places of care in 21 states in the US and the United Kingdom. We are guided by a philosophy of clinical excellence and putting patients first, providing high quality healthcare across a broad range of specialities from clinical research, primary care, outpatient and day-case treatment, through to complex and urgent care.

HCA Healthcare UK is made up of six leading private hospitals in London, a hospital in Manchester and four partnerships with NHS Teaching Hospital Trusts.  We also have a network of outpatient centres and a clinical research centre. This network combined with our partnerships with leading consultants, enable us to provide a depth and breadth of care across a range of specialities and levels of complexity. HCA Healthcare UK has developed a comprehensive cancer service, covering the full patient pathway. Integrated supportive cancer services are available across the HCA Healthcare UK network including a dedicated survivorship, palliative and supportive programme.

Within cancer our network of hospitals and healthcare facilities are continually adopting the latest cancer therapies and treatment techniques in screening, diagnostics, surgery, interventional radiology, genomics, systemic anti-cancer therapies, immuno-oncology, haemato-oncology, advanced cellular therapies, radiation oncology. We are the only private healthcare provider in the UK to operate a dedicated clinical trials unit, The Sarah Cannon Research Institute UK, providing access to clinical trials for both NHS and privately funded patients. While our dedicated genomics lab, Sarah Cannon Molecular Diagnostics, helps clinicians to identify personalised treatment options including new and novel therapies.

Palliative and Supportive Care

At HCA Healthcare UK we are committed to integrated holistic care pathways, recognising that treating cancer is not just about treating the disease but about providing wider support and care to a patient throughout their cancer pathway and beyond. Our dedicated survivorship, palliative and supportive programmes include an extensive multi-disciplinary Wellbeing Programme.  

Our supportive services include access to dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist support, complementary therapies, dedicated oncology dietetic services, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological services which incorporates Holistic Needs Assessments, and access to palliative care, symptom control and supportive care specialists.
