Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology - Professor Caroline Dive

  • Funded by Manchester Biomedical Research Centre
  • Salary in the range of £30,302 - £47,647 (dependent upon qualifications and experience)
  • Job Ref: MI/17/18
  • Duration of post: 4 year fixed term contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Clinical Fellow within Prof. Caroline Dive’s Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology Group to conduct cutting edge translational research on Carcinoma of Unknown Primary site (CUP). The successful candidate will test the hypothesis that liquid biomarkers, including but not limited to circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA), circulating tumours cells (CTCs) and tumour educated platelets (TEPs), can be used to detect tissue of origin and molecular subtypes in patients with CUP and to direct therapy. It will also examine whether genetics alone or genetics plus other factors, such as the immune microenvironment of CUPs, play a role in potential tumour responses. The project is intended to lead to peer-reviewed publications and the award of a PhD.

The successful applicant should have an MB, ChB (or equivalent) and hold Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) (or equivalent) and wish to undertake a period of full-time training in a cancer relevant field.

The successful candidates will have full General Medical Council (GMC) registration with license to practice medicine in the UK.

You will have a strong desire to develop into a Clinician Scientist and to see your research translated for patient benefit.
